The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia held a meeting with the co-moderators of the International Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasus.
Sukhum. March 10. Apsnypress. Deputy Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Kan Taniya held a meeting with co-moderators of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia from the UN, EU and OSCE.
Foreign Ministry officials, participants in the Geneva discussions took part in the meeting from the Abkhaz side.
The parties discussed in detail the agenda for the upcoming 39th round, in particular, the draft joint declaration of commitment to the non-use of force, which would serve as an important step towards the signing of a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between Georgia and Abkhazia and Georgia and South Ossetia as the main objective of the Geneva Discussions.
They spoke on the work of the first group on security issues, about closing two checkpoints on the state border with Georgia, as well as a number of statements on this issue from the EU, the UN, the OSCE and NATO. The politicized quarterly reports of the Georgian Foreign Ministry on human rights in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the problems connected with the international isolation of the citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia and the issue of activation of the military partnership between Georgia and NATO.
On the work of the second group, a number of issues of regional environmental security were discussed among which, in particular, the fight with the boxwood firefly and the marble bug. In addition, issues related to the legal situation of residents of Gal district of the Republic of Abkhazia and, in particular, the Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Republic of Abkhazia" were touched upon.
The next 39th round of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia is scheduled for March 28-29, 2017.
