Public Chamber: Georgian authorities are not ready to show political will and start the process of normalization of Georgian-Abkhaz relations
Statement of the Council of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Sukhum. March 1. Apsnypress. The statement says:

"Statement by Georgian Foreign Minister Mikhail Dzhanelidze about the desire of the official authorities of Georgia to intensify the policy aimed at reconciliation with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, did not pass unnoticed in the Abkhazian society. At the same time, many observers noted that such statements have already sounded more than once from Tbilisi, however, all this is happening against the backdrop of the ongoing political, economic and humanitarian pressure on Abkhazia. Such a policy of Georgia inevitably leads to violation of basic human rights, in particular, the right to freedom of movement, the right to education, the right to free development, etc. It is enough to cite the recent attempts of the Georgian Embassy in the Czech Republic to obstruct the work of the Abkhazian pavilion at the international tourist exhibition in Prague, where Abkhazia was presented as a new tourist route. Fortunately, the efforts of Georgian diplomats were not successful, and the Abkhazian pavilion immediately aroused great interest among the visitors of the exhibition. However, such actions once again confirm the true aims and intentions of Tbilisi, which relies on the isolation of Abkhazia and in every way hindering the social and economic development of our country. This is evidenced by reluctance to allow the unblocking of transport communications - Sukhum Airport, Transcaucasian Railway, seaports.

Another factor hindering the beginning of a constructive dialogue between Abkhazia and Georgia is the unwillingness of official Tbilisi to sign an agreement on the non-resumption of hostilities. Given the negative experience of the past, an important part of such an agreement should be international guarantees of security that would not only guarantee a lasting peace, but would also be an important factor in building confidence. However, we regret to state that the Georgian authorities are not ready to show political will and begin the process of normalizing the Georgian-Abkhaz relations."
