Polling stations are opened across the entire Abkhazia at 8 am
Sukhum. March 12. Apsnypress. Elections of deputies of the People's Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia have started in Abkhazia. All polling stations of the republic opened at 8 am.
The elections are held in 35 single-mandate constituencies. 137 candidates for deputies are running for 35 seats in the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia. Voting will last until 20:00.
The RA CEC has previously explained the voting procedure: the voter should cross out the names of the deputies in the ballot against which he votes and leave the candidate's name with a "for".
The winner is considered to be a candidate who collected 50 percent of the vote in his constituency, plus 1 vote. If no candidate receives more than half of the votes, a second round of voting is held in two weeks. Elections are recognized as having taken place at a 25 percent voter turnout.
