Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia: we call on the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to refrain from submitting draft resolutions to the vote
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia issued a comment.

Sukhum. July 8. Apsnypress. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia commented on the OSCE resolution submitted by Georgia.

 The comment says:

“During the annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg, a resolution was adopted concerning“ the situation of security and human rights in Abkhazia ”.

The resolution submitted by the Georgian delegation contains a standard set of documents for this kind of propaganda stamps on the “situation in the occupied territories”, as well as a meaningless appeal to Russia to cancel the decision recognizing the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia.

With enviable persistence, the Georgian side spreads its version of the situation in Abkhazia, using numerous international platforms - the UN, OSCE, EU, NATO, the Council of Europe and others. Since the time of Georgia’s aggression in Abkhazia in 1992-1993, Tbilisi’s policy towards Abkhazia, despite the occasional peace programs, has not changed significantly and continues to be inhuman and discriminatory. There is no movement towards rethinking the approaches unacceptable for the Republic of Abkhazia. Unfortunately, there is no understanding that the decision to recognize the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation fully reflects the will of the multinational people of Abkhazia and cannot be canceled.

Taking biased documents from Georgia’s submission, parliamentarians of the OSCE countries unconsciously undermine the fundamental principles to be followed by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

We believe that if the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly had a desire to get acquainted with the point of view of the Republic of Abkhazia and to understand the essence of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict in more detail, then perhaps the assessments of parliamentarians of the OSCE member countries would be more balanced and would not be under the dominant influence of Tbilisi propaganda. We urge the leadership of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to refrain from putting to the ballot short-term politicized draft resolutions that seriously complicate a constructive dialogue within the framework of the Geneva International Discussions. ”
