Daur Kove: Georgia has begun to actively use the Abkhaz factor in the domestic political struggle
The meeting with representatives of the UN, EU and OSCE was held at the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia.

Sukhum. June 13 Apsnypress. The meeting with the co-chairs of the international Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia. The purpose of the meeting is preparatory consultations for the upcoming 48th round of the Geneva discussions.

RA Foreign Minister Daur Kove outlined the main claims of the Abkhaz side to the Georgian rhetoric: “We have long noted the entrenched tendency of the Georgian leadership to represent the world community the situation around the Republic of Abkhazia in its own light. Recently, we also began to notice that the Abkhaz factor began to be actively used in the internal political struggle in Georgia. Thus, the party “European Georgia” initiated the creation of the list “Otozoria-Tatunashvili”. Despite our warnings that this will not bring anything good for the negotiation process, the Georgian government has supported this list. As a result, this led to the termination of negotiations in the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism. Nevertheless, the Georgian government continues to use the list and continues to expand sanctions. Such actions of the Georgian government were the result of political pressure from the European Georgia party.

Also, Kove expressed concern about the report of Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze on the implementation of government program of 2018-2020 submitted to the Parliament of Georgia on June 3: “The report made a very surprising statement that in 2018 the Georgian government allegedly allocated Abkhazia about 600 thousand lari for the purchase of drugs to combat the marble bug. I responsibly declare that the government of Abkhazia did not accept any help from Georgia. All preparations for combating the marble bug came to Abkhazia through international organizations from funds that have nothing to do with the budget of Georgia. In order to clarify the situation, we require the Georgian government to provide documents confirming the transfer to the Abkhaz side pest control products. Such statements by the top officials of the Georgian government cast doubt on all the work we are doing. I hope that we will have the opportunity in Geneva to discuss these issues. "

Hailu Mamo, Senior Political Advisor to the UN Special Representative for the Geneva Discussions, expressed the hope that the consultations in the 48th round of the Geneva discussions would be productive: “One of the main tasks of the upcoming consultations is the possibility of resuming the format of the IPRM, the details of which we intend to discuss today at the meeting .

The 48th round of the international Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia is scheduled to take place on July 2-3, 2019.
