Alexander Totonov: these elections are among the best that I have seen
Sukhum. March. Apsnypress. Damey Kaslandziya. At a press conference in the CEC, representatives of the Russian delegation of international observers at the elections to the People's Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia informed about the voting process.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin noted: "We passed a lot of polling stations, divided into 6 groups. I personally visited Sukhum, in the 7th district, in the New Athos and Gagra districts. Impressions are favorable. It is difficult to say whether elections will be limited to the first round. Sometimes, in elections in other countries, additional lists were more basic, these are clear signs of some abuse or shortcomings. There was nothing like this here".
Zatulin also suggested that it would be a good idea to set up a special register of observers: "These kinds of journals are needed to know whether the site was visited by delegates. This would allow us to say that the elections were normal".
Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Alexander Totonov said: "These elections are among the best I've seen. We managed to visit 16 sites. In general, no comments that could affect the results of the vote are not recorded. We hope that they will end in the same way".
