Alexander Totonov: according to our observations, the second round of elections is expected
Sukhum. March 13. Apsnypress. Damey Kaslandzia. At a press conference, representatives of a delegation of international observers from the State Duma and the Federation Council of Russia reported on preliminary results of monitoring the election of deputies of the People's Assembly of the Parliament of Abkhazia.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin informed: "The State Duma delegation was invited to the elections and accepted the invitation. According to our observations, the elections were held in accordance with the law and international rules. The voters' activity was high. Additional lists are small and not regarded as decisive in the course of voting. We visited 45 sites, starting from the Gal district and ending with Psou".
At the same time, Zatulin stressed: "We are committed to cooperate with the new Parliament. But, in my opinion, there are few representatives of other nationalities in Parliament. We need to work in this direction, this would raise Abkhazia to a new level".
For his part, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Alexander Totonov said: "Summing up, we can state that the mission entrusted to us - to participate in the most important events in Abkhazia - was successful. During observation on the sites visited by our colleagues, even in remote places, there were no special remarks. Elections are adapted to the international level. Nevertheless, according to our observations, a second round is expected".
